OzTaxReturn

FAQ

Is this tax advice?

No. OzTaxReturn workbooks provide general information and calculation tools based on published ATO rates and rules. They don't consider your personal circumstances, and we are not registered tax agents under the Tax Agent Services Act 2009. For advice about your situation, use ato.gov.au or a registered tax agent (find one at tpb.gov.au).

Which financial year do the calculators cover?

The current editions cover FY2025-26 (1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026) — the return Australians lodge between July and October 2026. Every rate is shown on a Rates tab with a link to its ATO source.

Do they work in Google Sheets?

Yes. The workbooks use only Sheets-compatible formulas and contain no macros. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive and open it with Sheets.

Excel version requirements?

Any modern Excel (2016+, Microsoft 365, Excel for Mac) and LibreOffice. No macros, no add-ins.

How is the file delivered?

Instantly. After Stripe checkout you land on a download page, and the links are also emailed to you (valid 7 days). If a link expires, reply to the email and we'll refresh it.

Cells are locked — why?

Formula cells are protected so a stray keystroke can't break your calculations. Every input cell (yellow) is editable. There's no password — you can unprotect any sheet from the Review menu if you want to customise.

What happens when rates change on 1 July?

Rates that change each financial year live on a single Rates tab. We release a new FY edition each July — join the email list and you'll get launch pricing on updates.

Will this tell me my exact refund?

No — it estimates the tax value of your deductions at your marginal rate, clearly labelled as an estimate. Your actual outcome depends on withholding, offsets, HELP debts and other factors the workbook doesn't model.

Refunds?

Digital downloads can't be 'returned', but if the file is faulty we'll fix or refund it (your Australian Consumer Law rights always apply). See the refund policy for details.

Is GST included in the price?

Prices are shown in AUD. We'll display GST-inclusive pricing if and when GST registration applies to us — nothing changes at checkout either way.
